How do I install the Water Filter?

To install the Keurig® Water Filter, simply follow the below steps:

Step 1: Soak the charcoal filter cartridge for 5 minutes in fresh water. Rinse the cartridge for 60 seconds once complete.

Step 2: On the bottom of the handle, press in the tabs on both sides of the base at the same time and pull down to separate. Insert the filter cartridge.

Step 3: Reattach the bottom of the Water Filter Handle.

Step 4: Insert the handle into your empty, removable Water Reservoir. Be sure to push down firmly all the way down to correctly attach the Water Filter to the inside of your removable Water Reservoir.
 

Which Water Filter works with my brewer?

  • If you have a K-Classic™ brewer, you will need to check your serial number prior to purchasing a water filter. If you need help locating your serial number, click here for a helpful guide!
    If your serial number begins with 44, 45 or 48, you will need the K-Classic Water Filter.
  • If your serial number begins with 55, you will need the Tall Handle Water Filter.
  • If your Keurig brewer has a side water reservoir, like the K-Supreme, K-Supreme Plus, K-Duo Plus, K-Cafe, K-Elite, K-Select, K-Slim, K425 and K525, you will need the Tall Handle Water Filter.
  • If your Keurig brewer has a rear water reservoir, like the K250, K-Compact, K-Latte, K-Duo and K-Duo Essentials, you will need the Short Handle Water Filter.
The K-Mini, K-Mini Plus, K15, Rivo® system and small office brewers are not compatible with our Water Filters.

How to Use the Universal My K-Cup® Reusable Filter

The Universal My K-Cup® can hold up to 17 grams of coffee and brew your favorite cup and Travel Mug sizes! You are able to brew any where from 6 ounces to 16 ounces of coffee at the push of a button!

1.0/Classic Series Instructions:

The Plus Series Brewer Adapter is not compatible with Classic Series brewers. Remove the Plus Series Brewer Adapter before using.

To remove:

  • Grasp the top of the Filter Holder with one hand
  • Use your opposite thumb to push down firmly on the Plus Series Brewer Adapter opening, while grasping the base

FILLING

  • Remove the lid by turning it counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position
  • Fill the Filter Basket to your desired fill line (cup or travel mug) and place in the Filter Holder
*CAUTION: Never compress grounds or fill above the top fill line as this may hinder brewer performance. If grinding your own beans, start with a coarser grind similar to a French press. Avoid a fine espresso grind as it may clog the screen.
*NOTE: The My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter is designed for ground coffee only. The use of tea leaves, hot cocoa, or other powdered beverages is not recommended.

 
  • While in the unlock position, replace the Lid, making sure that it sits flat atop the Filter Holder
*NOTE: If having difficulty, try securing the Lid firmly onto the Filter Basket before inserting into the Filter Holder
  • Turn the lid clockwise to LOCK
*CAUTION: Turning too far may cause lid to break
 
BREWING
  • Remove the K-Cup® Holder Assembly on your brewer
    • Lift the handle
    • Grasp the Holder Assembly and push up from below
    • NOTE: Make sure to hold the housing firmly
  • Insert your filled My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter into the empty Holder Assembly. The arrow on the My K-Cup® Filter Lid should line up with the arrow on your Classic Series brewer
  • Lower brewer handle and brew your desired volume

CLEANING

  • Fully disassemble the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter before washing and dispose of used coffee grounds inside the internal Filter
  • Pre-rinse each component
  • Clean the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter
*By Dishwasher (recommended): Ensure all components are safely secured on the top rack only.
*By Hand: Use warm, soapy water to thoroughly clean all components. Rinse and air dry all components.

2.0 Plus Series Instructions

The Plus Series Brewer Adapter is only compatible with Plus Series brewers and is required for proper use.

To attach:

  • Line up the Plus Series Brewer Adapter opening with the Filter Holder hook and carefully slide into place.
*NOTE: Make sure it is securely fastened before use
FILLING
  • Remove the lid by turning it counter-clockwise to the UNLOCK position
  • Fill the Filter Basket to your desired fill line (cup or travel mug) and place in the Filter Holder
*CAUTION: Never compress grounds or fill above the top fill line as this may hinder brewer performance. If grinding your own beans, start with a coarser grind similar to a French press. Avoid a fine espresso grind as it may clog the screen.
*NOTE: The My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter is designed for ground coffee only. The use of tea leaves, hot cocoa, or other powdered beerages is not recommended.

BREWING

  • Make sure the Plus Series Brewer Adapter is attached to the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter
  • Lift brewer handle and insert the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter into the cup holder. Press down firmly to secure
*NOTE: The Plus Series Brewer Adapter arm should be facing you during this process
  • Lower brewer handle and press the brew button
*NOTE: If the Main Menu appears with six menu options, choose option #2 (mug) or #4 (cup) for the optimal brew
CLEANING
  • Fully disassemble the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter before washing and dispose of used coffee grounds inside the internal Filter.
  • Pre-rinse each component
  • Clean the My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Filter

Why doesn’t the My K-Cup® Reusable Coffee Filter fit in my brewer?

The My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Coffee Filter is designed to work with all Keurig® brewers. The filter is shipped with an adapter attached for use in our Plus Series models. If you do not have a Plus Series model, simply remove the adapter for use in your brewer. If you are unsure of what brewer you have, check out the image below!

Which brewer models are compatible with the My K-Cup® filter accessories?

The original My K-Cup® filter accessory is compatible with our Keurig® Classic Series brewers, including the Keurig® K15, and the K50/K55. It is also compatible with our original Keurig® K-Cup® brewers.
 
The My K-Cup® 2.0 Plus Series filter is compatible with our Keurig® Plus Series / Keurig® 2.0 brewers, including the K200 series, K300 series, K400 series and K500 series.

The My K-Cup® filter doesn’t seem to work inside my brewer. What should I do?

There are two separate My K-Cup® Reusable Filter Accessories available to fit our different brewers. If the accessory that you purchased does not fit in your brewer, you may have purchased the wrong one.

Can the Keurig® My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Coffee Filter be used on any Keurig® model brewer?

The Keurig® My K-Cup® Universal Reusable Coffee Filter can be used on all Keurig Home brewer models. It is not intended for use with Commercial brewers (including K130, K140, K150 & K3000 series brewers).

No, compressing grounds or filling above the top fill line may have a negative impact on brewer performance or beverage taste.

How much coffee can each of the My K-Cup® filter accessories brew?

Both My K-Cup® filter accessories are optimized to brew all of the K-Cup® brew sizes available with your brewer – from 4 oz. to 12 oz., depending upon the specific brewer you have.

How much coffee can I use in the Universal My K-Cup® Reusable Filter?

The choice is yours! Feel free to fill your filter below either of the fill lines for your preferred strength. Keurig recommends using the lower “cup” fill line when brewing beverages below 10 ounces and the top “mug” fill line when brewing beverages above 10 ounces.
